Where ever you are, the sound of some birds will wake you before sunrise. If we are lucky to be in places with temples, we will hear their prayers and bells.
Now we wake to alarm bells!
5 years ago Thirupavai came to me and I expressed in Kolam form. I did the next year too. These formed the stories in my coffee table book. It was a soulful journey.
Next couple of years living the verses again and again, they meant more than the words. Now seeing friends make Kolams in some words of the verse, reminds me of myself those years ago and I feel excited for them.
And the journey continues with a different enthusiasm.
The 6th day changes the tone, for herein starts the quest! A new day, the early morning scenes and the bath in the pond, all part of these next 10 days. A wake up call.
We are all asleep and need to be woken. Margazhyi is the month that does that. A break from the routine. The daily habits have made us go through days like robots living the inevitable life. Come Margazhyi, we should wake. Change the pace, set on a path to realisation. Go on a fast. Take an activity that let’s you be with you, reach that Divinity within. A few hours a day devoted to any kind of meditation... for me it’s Kolam. By the end of the month, a new energy emerges to give us the positivity that will remain within for long. Then the whole cycle starts!
With the musings in my head, I just feel like doing circular Kolams. For that’s what life seems to be!
Change of venue... lack of space... Kolam in miniature... just within 3 feet..
Well... for now, Kolam pond? Let’s take a dip.
